Check the Price

About

A site built on
one boring question.

What will this actually cost me, in total, if I forget to cancel?

I started keeping this record after renewing a VPN I had stopped using. The charge was not large. It was, however, roughly three times the number I remembered agreeing to — and when I went looking for where that number had been shown, I could not find it on the page I had bought from.

It was in the terms. It had always been in the terms. The problem was not that the price was hidden; the problem was that no page anywhere put the first-term price and the renewal price next to each other, with a date on them.

So this is that page. It records four things for each provider: what is advertised, what is charged, what happens at renewal, and what the published terms actually permit. Nothing is ranked. Nothing is placed. The table is sortable because you know which column matters to you better than I do.

What this site is not

It is not a review site. There is no "best VPN" here, because the best one depends on a question this site does not ask — what you need it to do.

How it stays small

One person reads the pages, records the numbers and writes the entries. That is the entire editorial staff. It is a limitation, and it is also the reason the numbers are consistent: the same standard is applied by the same hand every month.

The site is reader-supported through affiliate links, disclosed on every page. Providers do not get to see a draft, request a change, or buy a position. If a provider's renewal rate is the worst in the table, it prints the worst number in the table.
